We are delighted to announce that the 7th Very Venerable Gyalton Tulku Rinpoche will visit Palpung Lungtok Choeling in San Jose on August 21 to bestow the Long Life Empowerment, starting at 2:00pm.
Gyalton Rinpoche is an incarnation of the religious head of Chungpo Monastery in Kham, Tibet, the 6th Venerable Gyalton Rinpoche. He was appointed as a Spiritual Guru to the King of Sikkim by H.H. 16th Karmapa, and he was also one of the teachers to Guru Vajradhara, the 12th Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa. The 6th Gyalton Rinpoche was also a prominent disciple of the Guru Vajradhara the 11th Kenting Tai Situpa.
In 1983, the 12th Tai Situ Rinpoche recognized the 4 year old son of the Martam family, an eminent Sikkimese family, as the new incarnation of the late Gyalton Rinpoche. After this, Gyalton Tulku Rinpoche, unconventionally pursued his education in the non-monastic system up until the first year of the University of India.
Following his Bodhichitta call, in 1989, the young Gyalton Rinpoche came to Sherabling to begin his formal traditional monastice education; and he remained under the guidance of his supreme guru, the 12th Tai Situ Rinpoche, the late Saljey Rinpoche and Venerable late Drupon Tsultrim. In 2003 he was appointed the Vajra Master of Palpung Sherabling Monastic Seat to preside over religious ceremonies.
In November 2010, Gyalton Rinpoche entered into the traditional three years strict retreat at Palpung Tingzing Gephel Ling. In 2014 he successfully completed his three year retreat.
Since then Gyalton Rinpoche has been traveling to different parts of India, Europe, Taiwan and Bhutan as the representative of H. E. Tai Situ Rinpoche to give teachings, empowerments and conducting ceremonies.
