"Announcement - Palpung Institute Program, 2016

Dear Dharma friends,

First of all, we would like to wish you all a happy new year 2016. May all of you have a good health and encounter no obstacles. May your practice bring its fruit.

We are delighted to announce the transmission program for this coming year. This year both Guru Vajradhara the 12th Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa and V.V. Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche will give transmissions.

From April 1 to 7, 2016, Guru Vajradhara Chamgon Tai Situpa will start a six year transmission of Mahamudra based on the text called Mahamudra Ocean of Definitive Meaning, composed by the 9th Karmapa. This transmission covers the complete path to Mahamudra. This transmission has daily practice commitments which will be given by Guru Vajradhara during the course. This first year Guru Vajradhara will teach the preliminaries practices. On the last day in the morning, Guru Vajradhara will bestow the Vajrasatva Empowerment and will cloture the first year transmission. He will teach in English and the transmission will be held in Tergar Monastery in Bodgaya. Registrations are open.

From May 12 to 16, 2016 V.V. Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche will start a five year transmission of Mahamudra based on the text called Mahamudra the Moonlight Beam, composed by Dakpo Tashi Namgyal. This transmission can be taken by Mahamudra Ocean of Definitive Meaning practitioners to enhance their practice or by other practitioners as a complete transmission of the wisdom of the Mahamudra. Rinpoche will teach in English. This transmission doesn't include practice commitments.

Mahamudra the Moonlight Beam is a general explanation of Shamatha, Vipassana and Mahamudra. The meditation teachings you will receive are the core essence of the view, the meditation and the application of Shamatha, Vipassana and Mahamudra according to the common exposition of both Sutrayana and Tantrayana. This transmission is directly aimed to enhance one's meditation of Mahamudra in the daily life. Mahamudra Ocean of Definitive Meaning and Mahamudra the Moonlight Beam are the two main treatises on Mahamudra for the Kagyupa Practice Lineage and are complementary to each other. The transmission will be held at Palpung Institute. Registrations are open.

From October 24 to 29, 2016 Guru Vajradhara Chamgon Tai Situpa will start a three year transmission of the Prajnaparamita Abisamaya Alamkara Shastra (The Ornament of Clear Realization) taught by Maitreya to Asanga. It is the first of the 5 treatise of Maitreya. The treatise is itself a sacred practice instruction of the Prajnaparamita (Wisdom Perfection). Guru Vajradhara will teach in Tibetan with simultaneous translations. This transmission doesn't include practice commitments. The transmission will be held at Palpung Institute. Registrations will open on April 15, 2016.

Additional transmission will be added for the end of the year. I will inform you during the spring 2016. You can access the registration list on Palpung.org. If you already created a username and password for previous transmissions, please, use them to register for any transmission in 2016.
